Phyllis was an oncology patient at UF Health, and found creativity essential to her recovery. Her whimsical collection of paintings and poems absolutely fulfill her desire to uplift and inspire.
The exhibit is free and all are welcome.
Artist’s Statement
UpThinkArt Story
As a child, I was always very creative, but my life’s work didn’t follow that path. In 2005, I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma followed by 2 more cancers. I was destined for Leukemia, so in 2012 I had a Bone Marrow Transplant. I am now in total cancer remission.
Having an opportunity to start a new life, I have decided that I want it to be a creative one that brings me to a closer connection with my heart and soul… I am focusing on creating uplifting and inspirational artwork that expresses my inner spiritual self and celebrates the precious gift of life.
I hope you enjoy my poems; they come through when I am able to keep my mind still and just listen.
