Visual Art in the Clinical Setting

Arts in Medicine employs visual artists who are specially trained to bring the creative arts to patients, families and staff through painting, drawing, collage, sculpture and crafts.

Inpatients are able to experience the visual arts individually at the bedside, or gather together in workshops under the guidance of trained artists and volunteers.

On average, 1,200 visual art activities are led by an Arts in Medicine visual artists at the bedside or in workshops annually.

Visual Art Referrals

One-on-one consultations and art experiences ranging from delivering arts materials for patients’ independent work, to multi-session collaborative art-making with a visual artist. Serving pediatric and adult inpatients. Consultation requests available through EPIC or by calling 352-733-0880.

Chalk the Walk

Each year, Arts in Medicine artists and volunteers create vivid, bold chalk art to express gratitude and appreciation for healthcare workers and hospital staff. These chalk designs are strategically placed at various locations across the UF Health campuses where staff members traverse.
