Specially trained professional dancers lead patients, their loved ones, and staff through gentle, joyful movement. Sessions can take place at the hospital bedside or in closed common areas on the unit.
No dance experience is required and sessions are free to all.
Inpatient Dance Visits
Professional dancers from the community are specially trained as Arts in Medicine practitioners to provide safe, guided movement to patients at the bedside. Movement sessions with a dancer from our team can include a gentle warm-up, a series of dance phrases led by the Arts in Medicine dancer, a collaborative dance session where participants are welcome to add their own moves, and more. The patient and our team have the ability to mutually guide the visit based on the patient’s requests and condition. Dance referrals can be made for current inpatients by placing an order on Epic or calling Arts in Medicine at (352) 733-0880.
