“Simply Passionate to Create” best describes Wanda’s love for creating one-of-a-kind mosaic and fiber art pieces.
A self-taught artist originally from the Washington, D.C. area, Wanda spent more than 20 years working as a video production editor and photographer before discovering her passion for creating functional art. Her background in visual storytelling continues to influence her artistic approach, combining color, texture, composition, and found objects to create distinctive works of art.
Through her involvement with the Repurpose Project, Wanda developed a deep appreciation for recycling, upcycling, and repurposing everyday materials. This experience inspired her to explore new ways of transforming discarded and unexpected objects into beautiful, functional works of art. She now enjoys sharing her unique creative style with others through hands-on mosaic-making classes and community craft workshops.
Wanda is also actively involved in the local arts community and serves as a Board Member of the Gainesville Fine Arts Association (GFAA).
Her work can currently be found at Butler Town Center, where she has two commissioned art pieces, Pink Narcissus and Narcissus.
Through her art and teaching, Wanda continues to inspire others to see beauty and creative possibility in the unexpected.
Why Arts in Medicine?
Working with older adults through art activities has been incredibly rewarding. It is inspiring to see the joy, creativity, and sense of accomplishment that come from simply having the opportunity to create. Through these experiences, I have seen firsthand how meaningful art can be. Arts in Medicine (AIM) provides more than an opportunity to make art—it creates connection, encourages self-expression, and brings moments of joy and purpose into people’s lives. I believe AIM truly enhances quality of life. Being able to share my passion for creating while helping others discover their own creativity is both meaningful and fulfilling to me.
