Musicians in residence are professional musicians from the community trained specially to provide preferential music to patients at the bedside.
Visits from a musician in residence can include performances of specifically requested songs, the musicians’ original works, or a calming background melody. The patient and the musician have the ability to mutually guide the visit based on the patient’s requests and condition.
Musician referrals can be made for current inpatients by calling Arts in Medicine at (352) 733-0880 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 9am-5pm, Wednesday 12pm-5pm.
