Lucía del Valle is a dancer, choreographer, and artist specializing in inclusive dance. Her work is grounded in the belief that art is a powerful force for social transformation and that everyone deserves opportunities to create and develop their artistic potential. In 2013, she founded Bailar con el Corazón, a non-profit association that later turned into a professional inclusive dance company composed of 10 artists with mixed abilities. Since then, her work promotes artistic excellence and advocates for inclusion through the arts.
In addition to her work as a director and choreographer, Lucía is pursuing a Ph.D. in Special Education at the University of Florida, where her research focuses on how the arts can enhance educational experiences for people with disabilities and promote meaningful inclusion within their communities.
Why Arts in Medicine?
Drawing on my experience as a dance educator, I am a passionate advocate for how the arts’ support social connection and self-awareness. Witnessing how UF Health serves the community and promotes the well-being of all those it reaches has made me feel at home as a teacher.
