Pía Molina, Arts in Medicine Practitioner

Pía Molina is a photographer and book maker who has enjoyed building her community in Gainesville since 2016. Pía first arrived in Gainesville to pursue a degree in anthropology and then continued on to earn a Masters at UF’s Center for Latin American Studies. Since finishing her studies in 2020, Pía has been a champion for various local non profits efforts in youth mentoring and education. As a self-taught artist she enjoys the playful nature of experimenting with film, alternative printing processes and book arts. Pía joins Arts in Medicine as a visual artist.

Why Arts in Medicine?

Arts in Medicine feels like the perfect combination of all the things I love and value in my life: people and art coming together to make something greater than any one individual person. My background in anthropology makes me curious about what happens when the creative process is made accessible for everyone and anyone in all situations. From my own experience, I know making art has taught me how to show myself grace and love as I navigate adversities and challenges in my life. It’s really an honor to be able to bring that open and affirming energy to anyone’s healing process as a visual artist in residence.
