Anu Priyadarshini, Artist in Residence

Anu Priyadarshini has been an artist in residence with the Art in Motion workshop for UF Health Shands Arts in Medicine since 2017. As an artist, she engages participants with Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders through arts and crafts activities. Anu started volunteering in 2014. She feels very fortunate to have the opportunity to do something she loves.

Anu is an Indian folk artist but is also very interested in working in fine arts, crafts, floor art and repurposing projects. She shows and sells her artwork in local events and arts festivals, as well as completing private commissions from the US and India. She would be happy if her artwork inspires people and helps or protects animals in any way. Anu also fundraises for CIFAE (Conservation Initiative for the Asian Elephant).

In addition to being an artist, Anu is also an entomologist! She works as a curator’s assistant at the McGuire Center for Lepidoptera and Biodiversity, Florida Museum of Natural History, where she finds beautiful specimens daily that help to influence some of her artwork.

Anu graduated from India and earned a MSc. degree in Zoology (2002). She also completed her graduate certificate in Arts in Medicine from the University of Florida (2017).

Art is her life. It is her passion to learn art, create art, engage art and spread happiness everywhere.
