Ali came to Gainesville in 2005 and has come to love and call Gainesville her home. She holds an Associate in Arts in Nursing from Santa Fe College with previous Childbirth Educator & Doula certifications, and partakes in many forms of art as a therapeutic outlet for her mental well-being. Ali’s creative background includes having played violin for 10 years to now painting landscapes, drawing, personal writing, and capturing nature photography.
Her involvement with Arts in Medicine started through her vast professional experiences working on 8East where the unit manager introduced her to AIM’s bedside services for the patients and staff. There through the eyes of the patients, their family members, and support staff Ali was was impacted by how many were grateful for this program that gave them that lift and positive change in mood. Ali was so enthused that there was such a program in the healthcare setting that involved healing through the arts, which led her to volunteer with Arts in Medicine for a time on the Labor & Delivery unit. It was rewarding for Ali to help the pregnant parents feel at ease during their extended stay and receive such a positive feedback.
