Community Partners

The following is a list of local institutions or programs that Arts in Medicine has collaborated with. For some of these institutions, you have the opportunity to propose your own program idea as a group, pair or individually. Explore the opportunities below to see if your interests and learning objectives might align with who they serve.

Student-created programming examples might include: One-time or regular visual arts skill building presentations/workshops, musical performances or group engagements, accessible dance programs etc.

UF Health Dialysis Center

Work in cooperation with staff at the UF Health Dialysis Center to offer visual arts to adult patients while they are undergoing their dialysis treatments.

Malcom Randall VA Medical Center

Potential music opportunities available in partnership with pastoral services and music therapist at Gainesville’s VA hospital . Details and questions can be discussed during your practicum interview.

UF Health Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Institute

Partner with Child Life Specialist working at OSMI to provide creative activities to pediatric patients in waiting areas or in the casting room.

The Senior Recreation Center

The Senior Recreation Center – a membership-based recreation and activity center that provides enriching and enjoyable programming for local seniors both virtually and in person.

Al’z Place

Al’z Place -a facility that provides adult day care, activities, and events for people age 18+ with Alzheimer’s disease or severe memory impairment

Oak Hammock

Oak Hammock at the University of Florida – a retirement community offering events, classes and opportunities to its residents.

Center for Independent Living

Center for Independent Living – a not-for-profit organization with a mission to empower people with disabilities to achieve their goals for independence. Currently, CIL is looking for ways to engage its members in creative ways during their Youth Social Group, which occurs from 5:30-7pm every Tuesday. Opportunities may include proposing and leading your creative engagement 1-2 times a month for CIL during their Tuesday Youth Social Group. These gatherings are offered to those who are 14-24 years old.
