Call & Response: An Ekphrastic Poetry Workshop

Join Arts in Medicine for a special poetry workshop open to adults ages 18 and up, no prior art or poetry experience needed.

Description: An introduction to ekphrasis – writing a poem in response to viewing a visual work of art – including time to view Arts in Medicine’s current exhibit, Continuum, followed by an introduction to ekphrastic poetry, reading and discussing a few examples, time for creative writing, and optionally, sharing our work.

When: September 19th, 2025 from 2-4PM

Where: GFAA (Gainesville Fine Arts Association) located at 1314 S Main St, Gainesville, FL

Who: Open to adults ages 18+ who are interested in learning to write poetry in response to visual art.

Cost: Free to community members; a donation to GFAA Gallery is welcome

Skill level: Introductory level – no prior arts or poetry experience needed!
