UF 2013 International Piano Festival

The University of Florida International Piano Festival to present world-class pianists in master classes and in recitals.

This summer, the University of Florida will host world-renowned pianists from across the United States and China for the International Piano Festival. Now in its 6th year, this annual event gives talented young piano students a chance to study with world-renowned professors, and provides free concerts to the public each day.

The International Piano Festival will be held from June 15-23, 2013. As a sponsor for the event, Shands Arts in Medicine will host participant recitals on June 18 at 11:30 a.m, in the South Tower Lobby and June 21 at 11:30 a.m., in the North Tower Atrium.

“We are delighted to include the Shands performances in our schedule in show of appreciation for the many ways in which the arts and healthcare are intertwined at UF,” said Dr. Kevin Orr, concert pianist and UF professor.  “We hope this relationship will only continue to strengthen.”

A schedule of master classes and concerts that are free and open to the public is available on the event website at arts.ufl.edu/pianofestival.

The first UF International Piano Festival was held in 2007 as the Chinese-American International Piano Institute. The International Piano Festival assembles exceptional college and pre-college pianists for lessons and master classes with distinguished piano teachers from North America and China. In its relatively short existence, UFIPF/CAIPI has hosted teachers and artists from the finest institutions in the world.
