Arts for Resiliency Symposium

health fairThe Arts in Medicine Programs at the University of Florida in partnership with the UF Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, FSU Department of Art Education, the Florida Office of Rural Health and Franklin’s Promise Coalition will be hosting a two day symposium March 27-28, 2014 titled Using the Arts for Resiliency in Rural Communities.  The symposium will focus on how the arts can build capacity, coping, creative problem solving, and enhance well-being in rural communities through presentation of best practice models, workshops, and skills training sessions.  The event’s content is geared toward professionals in health, social and human services, the arts, community non-profit agencies, educators and anyone engaged in community building, disaster managements of social services in rural communities.

The Symposium will be held at the Apalachicola Center for History, Culture and Art in Apalachicola, Florida.  Local accommodations available at a discounted rate at the Best Western and the Water Street Inn.  The $60 registration fee will include a provided lunch on March 27th.  A special Theatre for Resiliency workshop with John Sullivan will be held from 10am-4pm on Saturday, March 29th for a $20 fee.
